What this policy covers
This policy explains what personal information Sandy Lake Academy ("we", "us", "the school") collects through this website, how we use it, which outside services we rely on, and how you can reach us with questions. It applies to this website only. Information collected in person, by phone, or through the school office is handled under the school's internal policies.
Information we collect
This website is a static, informational site. It has no contact form, user accounts, or analytics trackers, and the school does not collect information directly through these pages. Information is collected only when you choose to use one of the services below:
- Inquiries, applications, and enrolment (FACTS). When you submit an inquiry or application, or sign in to the Family Portal, you enter family, student, health, and financial information directly into FACTS Management, the school's admissions and tuition system. The school receives this information to process your inquiry, application, or enrolment.
- Campus tour bookings (Calendly). When you book a tour, Calendly collects your name, email address, and any notes you add, and shares them with the school so we can prepare for your visit.
- Donations (Helcim). When you donate online, Helcim collects your name, contact details, and payment card information to process the gift. The school receives the donor and gift details needed to issue a receipt; the school never sees or stores your full card number.
- Email. If you email us using the addresses on this site, we receive whatever you choose to send.
- Server logs (Netlify). Like most websites, our hosting provider records standard technical information for each visit, such as IP address, browser type, pages requested, and time of request, for security and reliability purposes.
Third-party services we use
Each of the following services has its own privacy policy, which governs how it handles your information:

- Google Drive & Google Maps — Google Drive hosts the public documents (handbooks, forms, guides) linked from our Forms & Documents page, and Google Maps provides the interactive campus map on our Contact page. We also link to our Facebook and Instagram pages. Those platforms collect information under their own policies once you leave our site.
Cookies
This website does not use advertising cookies or analytics trackers, and the school does not set cookies of its own. Third-party widgets embedded on the site, such as the Calendly booking window, and the external services listed above may set their own cookies when you use them. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Children's information
Sandy Lake Academy serves students from Junior Primary to Grade 12. This website is written for parents and guardians, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children through it. Student information is collected only from a parent or guardian, through the FACTS inquiry and application process, as part of admissions and enrolment. Once a student is enrolled, their records are managed under the school's student records practices rather than through this website.
How long we keep information
Inquiry and tour-booking details are kept only as long as needed to respond to you and support the admissions process. Application and enrolment records are kept for as long as required to administer a student's education and to meet the school's record-keeping obligations. Donation records are kept as required for charitable receipting and accounting. Server logs are retained by our hosting provider for a limited period for security purposes.

Sandy Lake Academy respects the privacy principles set out in Canadian and Nova Scotia privacy law. You may ask what personal information we hold about you or your child, request a correction, or ask that we stop using it where we are able to do so.
